Congratulations to VRA Board Vice-Chair Rhu Harris on Being Named a Richmond Times-Dispatch Person of the Year!
Congratulations are in order to Rhu Harris on being named a 2020 Richmond Times-Dispatch Person of the Year Honoree. Rhu Harris has spent a career in public service, and we are grateful that this has included serving on VRA’s Board of Directors. In recognition of his leadership and deep knowledge of local government needs, the Board re-elected Rhu as Vice Chair at its September 15, 2020 meeting.

Cecil R. “Rhu” Harris retired as Hanover County Administrator in the summer of 2020, following a distinguished 34-year career with the County, including the last 16 as County Administrator. During that tenure, Rhu forged friendships and partnerships with fellow local government leaders across the region, with whom he actively collaborated to make RVA a better place in which to live and work. Rhu is a Spider who graduated from the University of Richmond and started his career as a CPA. He leaned on this training during his tenure in Hanover’s Finance Department before becoming Deputy County Administrator and then County Administrator. Rhu used this extensive experience to provide strong financial stewardship for Hanover as County Administrator and to make wise fiscal investments in the County’s future.

VRA is proud to have Rhu on its Board of Directors, and we wish him all the best in a well-deserved retirement!
