Virginia Railway Express
The Virginia Railway Express (VRE) is a convenient and affordable transportation solution for many commuters in Northern Virginia. VRE is jointly owned by the Northern Virginia Transportation District Commission (NVTC) and the Potomac and Rappahannock Transportation District Commission. In a part of the state that faces frequent traffic congestion, VRE provides a safe and comfortable way for residents along the I-66 and I-95 corridors to reach employment centers in Northern Virginia and Washington, D.C.
VPFP Project Highlight -  Halifax County Courthouse
The Halifax County Courthouse occupies a special place in Virginia history. This architectural treasure is listed on both the VA Landmarks Register and the National Register of Historic Places. The Courthouse was designed by Dabney Cosby, an acolyte of Thomas Jefferson who helped construct the University of Virginia. As such, the building contains many of the iconic neo-classical design elements associated with our third President.
Chesterfield Uses VPFP  to Fund Key Projects
Chesterfield County borrowed $9.86 million from the 2017C Virginia Pooled Financing Program (VPFP) to partially fund three key projects that will benefit County residents for years to come. The three projects include significant enhancements to the River City Sportsplex athletic facility, a new Chesterfield Center for the Arts and an HVAC replacement project.
