Extensive Upgrades to NRV Regional Water Authority Facilities

In 2020, the NRV Regional Water Authority financed an extensive modernization of its water treatment plant through the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund. The $36.9 million loan was used to replace four raw water pumps and a chemical storage facility, construct new filtration units, tanks and basins, and build a new administration building, among other objectives. The project also financed the installation of a new Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system. The NRV Regional Water Authority serves the Town of Blacksburg, the Town of Christiansburg, Montgomery County, and Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. The loan is secured by water revenues.
